We possess state-of-the art knowledge and a suite of proprietary data, tools and analytics
An essential element of our ability to have impact on our clients is bringing distinctive insights and proprietary knowledge to our engagements. To develop this knowledge, we invest $400 million each year in our own research programs.
We publish some of this research externally, for example, through the McKinsey Quarterly or through our business and economics research arm, the McKinsey Global Institute. We also publish deep, specialized perspectives on a range of topics in our industry and functional publications.
Sixteen hundred knowledge professionals (1 of every 10 members of the firm) support our consulting teams, conduct research, then sanitize and codify our work so that our findings and insights are captured from every engagement in a way that can be shared safely with other teams. All of our codified knowledge is kept in an extensive database that is accessible by all our consultants, who use it to work more effectively with clients and drive higher levels of impact. This database includes 40,000 staff-written documents, providing an extensive perspective on industry trends.
